Some may have a symmetrical coating, some not be and darkened over time appear as chrome. Last photo shows heater glow from a Marshall DSL15 tube compared to an amber night light. Tube never needs to be replaced because heater glow is simulated by an LED. This is normal.
Night light is meant to simulate the look of a glowing tube heater and will not be bright enough fully illuminate room. Simulated heater glow turns on as front mounted sensor detects darkness. Uses very low energy due to efficient LED Design. Light will dim or turn off when room lights are on depending brightness of.
The top of each tube has a chrome like coating called fetter flash. 12AX7 Vacuum Tube RED LED Night Light made with a Valve from Pave or Mesa Boogie Amplifier. Similar in size and shape to a 12AX7 9 pin preamps tube. Heater glow is simulated by an LED and COOL TO THE TOUCH.
Handmade by myself using tubes found in vintage audio equipment. Handmade in the USA. Vacuum tube valve heater glows like it is sitting in the chassis of a guitar amplifier, radio or TV. These are not meant to fully light up a dark space like typical night would.
